How to make acrylic keychains?

Acrylic keychains are stylish, durable and perfect for customization. Here's a step-by-step guide to making them at home.

Materials needed:

Acrylic blank (pre-cut round, square, or custom shape)

Vinyl decal, sticker, or paint (for the design)

UV resin or clear sealer (to protect the design)

Drill bit (if blank does not have holes)

Key ring and jump ring

Weed control tool (if using vinyl)

Small pliers (for attaching the key ring)

Method 1: Use a vinyl decal (best for personalization)

Prepare an acrylic blank

Peel off any protective film from the acrylic surface.

Clean with topical alcohol and allow to dry.

Designing and cutting vinyl

Use a cutter (Cricut, Silhouette) or scissors to cut your vinyl design.

If using text or logos, mirror the image before cutting.

Applying Vinyl to Acrylic

Use transfer tape to transfer your design to acrylic.

Smooth out air bubbles with a squeegee or credit card.

Seal the design (optional protection)

Apply a thin coat of UV Resin or Clear Mod Podge to the vinyl and cure with UV light (if using resin).

Let it dry completely.

Installing the key ring

Use a small pair of pliers to open the jump ring and thread it through the hole in the acrylic blank.

Install the key ring and close the jump ring securely.

Method 2: Painting the acrylic keyring

Preparing and cleaning the acrylic blank

Remove the protective film and clean it with topical alcohol.

Paint your design

Use acrylic paint or a paint pen to create a design on one side.

Let each layer dry before adding another.

Seal the design

Use a clear acrylic spray sealer or resin to protect the artwork.

Allow to dry completely before processing.

Install the key ring (same process as above).

Method 3: Printing an acrylic keyring(for photographic and detailed art)

Print your design on a waterproof decal sheet

Cut the design to fit the acrylic blank.

Adhere to the back of the acrylic

Press firmly to avoid air bubbles.

Seal with resin or Mod Podge

Apply clear sealant to prevent damage.

Install the key ring (same as before).

Additional Tips:

1. Use double-sided acrylic blanks for a layered look.

2. glitter or holographic vinyl adds extra sparkle.

3. Try different shapes (hearts, stars, animals).
