How to make bag charms?
Share
Handmade bag charms are one-of-a-kind and make excellent little gifts. Below are detailed steps for creating your own bag charm.
Materials Needed
Charms (purchased or handmade using beads, resin, polymer clay, or metal pendants)
Keyring or lobster clasp (for attaching the charm to your bag)
Open jump ring (to connect the charm to the keyring or lobster clasp)
Pliers (for working with jump rings and lobster clasps)
Steps to Make a Bag Charm
1. Choose a theme and charm
Determine the theme for your bag charm and select the pendant you wish to use. This could be a ready-made pendant (e.g., heart, flower, animal, letter, etc.), beads, or even a miniature accessory.
2. Attach the Jump Ring
Use pliers to open the jump ring. (When opening, gently twist the pliers sideways—do not forcefully pull apart.)
Slide the pendant onto the jump ring.
Once the pendant is on the jump ring, twist the ring back into place.
3. Attach to Keyring or Lobster Clasp
Open the keyring or lobster clasp, attach the pendant and jump ring, then secure it closed.
Your simple charm is now complete. For further customization, plush toys, tassels, or other trinkets to use in different backpacks, handbags, wallets, etc.
